Fairfield Duplex – Main

This is the main floor unit of our 1909 rental duplex in Fairfield. It was the second of the two units we renovated – about a year and a half after the top floor. We purchased this house in 2014 as an estate sale. The house was one of many owned by a property management company. The house had some significant renovations done in the 60s but had since been “maintained”. Needless to say, it needed a LOT of work. This unit was stripped down to the studs, re-wired, re-plummed, insulation, drywall, flooring… you name it! We had always planned to keep this house as a long-term investment, so as usual, we went above and beyond with the materials and workmanship. This is a two-bed, two-bath 1250sq unit. It also boasts 10-foot ceilings and even though we were not able to salvage the original coffered ceilings, we were able to keep two beautiful pocket doors, the stained glass windows and replicate the coffered ceilings in the new living room.
